Top 10 remote working tips for Fuerteventura

  1. Book your car in advance. If you don’t it can be very expensive. Price is around 25eur p day. Try multiple car rental companies such as cicar, autoreisen.de and sunnycars
  2. Join the remote working slack group and meet other remote workers and join them for meetups, surf, kite or sharing transportation. Or just getting to know where the party starts 😉
  3. Find a co-working space, see a list with places to escape to on fuertecowork.com or just book my remote working house for fiber wifi (300mbps+), 40 other remote workers and a shared swimming pool – just 5min from Corralejo and 10 min from the beach!
  4. Explore the island, just drive around and taste the localities and experience great vibes of the island. My favorite trip after a day of work is to go at 4pm to glass beach to time-out after a day of hard work, then drive all the way up to El Cotillo to watch the sunset at Azzuro, then drive back and on the way home stop in Lajares (a small surf town) for a good coffee cortado or baraquito at Canela café. You can also have great food there: Return Bar, Canela, Pizzaplace.
  5. Meet people in Corralejo, just drive 5 minutes from my remote working house and wine & dine at one of the many places. If you are traveling alone go to Malverde it’s a great taqueria (Mexican) place where others hangout for easy healthy quick food. After that the bars next door: Babel and Cheers is where to continue your evening if you feel like having another drink. If you can’t find the Fuerte Fun People in those bars, join our whatsapp group (260+ people in there): https://chat.whatsapp.com/LAc4IuqijyK5Q95n3QE5ws. In worst case you can always download ClickTaxi app and order a taxi home. It’s around 8euro.
  6. Start your day with a breakfast on the terrace. Places that are healthy and offer good value & service for price are: Bueno Vista Café (closed now), Secreto del Sur and Trigo Café.
  7. Go for trips in the weekend. Here are a couple ideas and places to go to: Betancuria (try the burger place), Cofete (best beach in Fuerteventura), Casa Naturaleza (restaurant with live music in middle of oasis), Ajuy caves (black beach and beautiful caves), Vulcano Halderon, Sovento (beach in the south), Esquinzo beach and travel the sandy routes on to the coast of in El Cotillo for great nearby beaches.
  8. Take it easy. Tranquilo. You are here to relax and unstress. Try one of the many yoga and meditation classes if you can’t get Zen.
  9. Drink enough water. Buy these 6-8 liter bottles and you always have some water at home. The last thing you want is to drink from the tap because you runned out of water.
  10. Ergonomic desk and working environments are scarce in Fuerteventura. Moving remote should not destroy your good habits and back. Especially for people with or that want to avoid a hernia it’s important to think about your work environment, even if you work remotely. In my remote working house we have an electric standing desk built in to the kitchen block that you can adjust to your needs. This is remote working in Fuerteventura for professionals!
